Contracts

RFF service activity continue to grow significantly in 2013. The comparatively higher gain in rewards collected as related to the increase in the number contracts can be attributed to the price increase enacted in November 2012.

Volume distribution

Statistics for volume (m3) per contract in 2013 show 39,004 contracts (18.6% of all contracts) had a volume of 20,000m3 or less. Fifty percent (50%) of contracts were 140,000m3 or less, and this was the same proportion as in 2012. There was a spike of contracts in the 480,000m3 to 500,000m3 range. In fact, 1,938 of those contracts had a volume of exactly 500,000m3. Many contracts were created near or at the maximum contract volume of 860,000 m3.

Completion time statistics

The goal of Red Frog Freight is to complete contracts within 24 hours after date issued, but this is not always possible due to various reasons. We ask for 3 days to accept and 1 day to complete contracts, and usually RFF delivers well within these parameters.

Out of the 210,128 contracts completed by RFF in 2013, about 87.7% of the contracts (184,336) were completed within 24 hours after a contract was issued, and 99.1% of the contracts (208,234) were completed within 48 hours after a contract was issued. The median time from contract issue to contract completion was about 8 hours and 22 minutes.

Recruitment and retention

Our hauling service is made possible by pilots, and lots of them. Since December 2011, RFF uses standardized recruitment application forms. RFF was featured in a Community Spotlight in 2013 that led to a dramatic increase in recruitment applications. During 2013, recruiters at RFF spent large amounts of time on background checks, processing applications, and bringing new pilots into the service.

Summary of Black Frog Logistics

A clarification to 2012 contract numbers is included below with regards to security status: contracts with both origins and destinations (high to high) are separated, and these are further subdivided into service to contiguous high sec and to sevice including high sec island solar systems.

Contracts

Unlike 2012 -- where there was a steady increase in contracts completed each month -- the contracts completed per month in 2013 varied up and down. In December 2013, fewer contracts were completed than in December 2012. December 2012 activity showed a significant spike in contracts, the trend continued into January 2013, and then pulled back in subsequent months. The highest activity in 2013 was in the month of August.

(*2011 year incomplete)

Volume

For the entire 2013 year the reward surcharge for shipments greater than 320,000m3 in volume was applied; the effect is illustrated in the volume distribution of contracts at just below or equal to 320,000m3.

Thank-you and looking forward to 2014

On behalf of all frogs, we would like to thank all our customers for their continued patronage.

Directors and managers would like to thank the hundreds of pilots in all the frog corporations for making these results possible.

Appendix A: Notes on Data Collection

All contract data for 2013 and 2012 was harvested via the EVE API. Most numbers are based on the dateIssued of each contract, and not on the dateAccepted.

If “base rewards” are mentioned anywhere, they represent the reward as calculated by the Red Frog web calculator at the time of contract issue. Therefore, when price increases were rolled out, the new base reward was stored along side that contract.

Appendix B: RFF raw data

Again this year you can analyse RFF data yourself; a set of raw data is published below with selected columns of data in CSV format.
